Israel, the archenemy of Islamic countries, is the one entity that benefited most from the ongoing proxy war between Saudis and Iran.
Since its conception, Israel has been viewed as an outsider hell bent on establishing its dominance on what is generally perceived as the “promised land”.
A major obstacle in their way was the Palestinian resistance supported by Arab countries prior to the Islamic Revolution.
Following the revolution, despite the fact that Iran officially transformed from a secular state to an Islamic one, Arabic countries felt threatened by the consequence of a Shia’s state rising.
Worse still, the rise of an independent republic sowed fear inside the heart of Arabian kings, long accustomed to their thrones. Feeling cornered, Arabian countries abandoned the cause of Palestine, now spearheaded by Iranians, and sought to forge hidden bounds with their old enemies, Israel.
Ignoring the long list of factors that played their part in the tumultuous history of relations between the two countries, it would suffice for this paper to say that the execution of prominent Shia cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr and the subsequent storming of Saudi embassy in Tehran caused the two countries to trade blows and sever their ties with each other.
This rift provided a ripe opportunity for Israelis to forge closer ties with Saudi Arabia under the guidance of United States, so they could “solve” their issues with Palestinians without other Arabic countries interference. Nowadays apparently, this cooperation has transcended far beyond its original purpose of deterring Iran.
These recent years, Israelis aided Saudis not only with advanced armaments against Yemenis and with other undesirable entities, but also supplied them with means that would secure their political standing internally as well. Apparently, the old saying “Enemy of my Enemy” suits house of Saud well when everything comes down to a matter of staying in power.
Still not everybody has cowered in hidey-holes and watched Zionists walk the streets of Mecca. Recently, a campaign going by the acronym BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) sent repeated letters of warning to Saudis, asking them to terminate the deal, while Palestinian clerics have come out criticizing the decision made. Still the Saudis have refused to comment on the situation.
Recently there have been reports of Israelis intermediation in security deals signed between Saudi Arabia and other European countries, particularly a company that mostly benefits by providing equipment for Israeli security forces. The infamous security mogul going by the acronym G4S is a London-based security firm that has quite a considerable share in the protection of Israel.
It is responsible for the training of many riot police force that eventually resort to the haphazard killing of dissident Palestinians. It is also worth mentioning that a section of G4S organization is made up of Israeli trained forces formerly known as Hashmira, which has made up the bulk of their Middle Eastern branch of operation. Worst of all, the infamous group is reputed to be the one responsible for the heinous interrogation techniques employed by Jalma interrogation centers.
Nowadays it has been revealed that Saudis have made some shady deals with them for “security” purposes of Hajj, which details are kept out of public reach. Apparently, the security firm has been hired to assist Saudis with the situation in Jeddah Metro, though nobody might be well aware of what kind of backwater deals they might have signed as a side note to this contract.
Although the Saudis have said that they won’t be directly involved with the pilgrims, the mere presence of a security firm having strong ties with Israel is unnerving for a large crowd of pilgrims, many of whom carry the wound of their battles with such entity.
With the rumors of Saudi Arabia strong-arming and squeezing Jordanian tight to give up their control of their share of Al Haram-e-Sharif spreading like wind across the four corner of the globe, it is a wrong move of Saudis to employ Israeli protection this time of year for a phenomenon believed to be the single unifying force of Muslims world.
For now, it seems that the Saudis have been successful in suppressing the news spread but as for what might happen the moment Hajj is finished and the secrets are revealed, we just have to wait and see.
